Sister taxon: Latoplatecarpus nichollsae

Type specimen: TMP 84.162.01, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Pembina Member, Pierre Shale, which is in a Campanian marine shale/ash in the Pierre Shale Formation of Canada.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Pembina Member, Pierre Shale
