Sister taxa: Tennentsia evansi, Tennentsia koreana, Tennentsia orientalis, Tennentsia princeps

Type specimen: C-Dt II 342, a wing (only apex preserved). Its type locality is Birds River (Bir 111), which is in a Carnian lacustrine - small shale in the Molteno Formation of South Africa.
