Sister taxon: Leptochamops denticulatus
Type specimen: UALVP 29749, a mandible (an incomplete left dentary bearing five teeth and bases for ten others). Its type locality is Irvine microvertebrate site, which is in a Judithian terrestrial horizon in the Dinosaur Park Formation of Canada.
