Sister taxon: Leptochamops thrinax
Type specimen: YPM 1062, a mandible (a nearly complete left dentary with 23 teeth). Its type locality is Peterson's Quarry, which is in a Lancian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
