Sister taxon: Regispongia contorta
Type specimen: University Erlangen Senowbari-Daryan P1-10. Its type locality is La Kaftari, Esfahan, which is in a Capitanian shallow subtidal limestone in the Jamal Formation of Iran.
Ecology: stationary intermediate-level epifaunal suspension feeder
Distribution: found only at La Kaftari, Esfahan
