Type specimen: Mainz Natural History Museum 40, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Dyckeroff's quarry, Biebrich near Mainz-Castel, which is in an Aquitanian lacustrine lime mudstone in the Hydrobienkalk Formation of Germany.
