Type specimens:
- Hyposaurus natator: YPM 985, a partial skeleton (Skull and jaws, pelvis, shoulder, 33 vertebrae and rib fragments). Its type locality is Cream Ridge Marl Company pit (Hornerstown Fm.), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine marl in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
- Hyposaurus natator oweni: YPM 753, a partial skeleton (Mandible, several dorso-lumbar vertebrae, complete right pelvis, a few caudals, and some limb elements).
Ecology: carnivore
Distribution:
• Cretaceous of United States (2: New Jersey collections)
Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
