Saitoum dickinsoni Yeh 1987 (radiolarian)

Protozoa - Nassellaria - Poulpidae

Original description: Test hemispherical, with inner latticed layer of microgranular silica. Cephalis with cephalocone-like structure "ditreme" connecting with vertical bar. Horn massive, long, triradiate with three wide, rounded ridges alternating with three narrow grooves. Feet thin, medium in length, nearly as long as horn, triradiate, tapering distally, and curving inwards.

Original remarks: Saitoum dickinsoni, n. sp., differs from other Saitoum spp. in this report by having a smooth, imperforate (with the exception of ditreme) test with long massive horn and thin feet.

Etymology: This species is named for Dr. W. R. Dickinson for his contribution to the geology of east-central Oregon, Tethyan Realm.
