Saitoum smithi Yeh 1987 (radiolarian)

Protozoa - Nassellaria - Poulpidae

Original description: Test small, hemispherical in outline, test wall thick, perforate with layer of microgranular silica covering inner latticed layer of pentagonal and hexagonal pore frames with uniform size of circular pores open. Horn extremely short, tapering distally, triradiate proximally, circular in axial section distally. Feet long, gently curved inwards. Tapering distally, triradiate with three grooves alternating with three narrow, rounded ridges, groove about twice as wide as ridges.

Etymology: This species is named for Dr. P. Smith for his contribution to the geology of east-central Oregon, Tethyan Realm.
