Sister taxa: Pelecanoides cymatotrypetes, Pelecanoides georgicus, Pelecanoides urinatrix, Pelecanoides whenuahouensis

Type specimen: MNZ S42431, a limb element (distal right humerus). Its type locality is Croc Site L1, Mata Creek, H41/f84, which is in an Altonian lacustrine - large sandstone/siltstone in the Bannockburn Formation of New Zealand.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Croc Site L1, Mata Creek, H41/f84
