Belongs to Pelecanoides according to S. L. Olson 1985
Sister taxa: Pelecanoides georgicus, Pelecanoides miokuaka, Pelecanoides urinatrix, Pelecanoides whenuahouensis
Type specimen: L14564, a limb element (left humerus). Its type locality is Langebaanweg, QSM, which is in a Zanclean fluvial sandstone in the Varswater Formation of South Africa.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at Langebaanweg, QSM
