Sister taxa: Procoptodon browneorum, Procoptodon mccoyi, Procoptodon oreas, Procoptodon otuel, Procoptodon pusio, Procoptodon rapha, Procoptodon williamsi
Type specimen: NMV P21609, a mandible (left and right juvenile dentaries missing most of ascending rami). Its type locality is Shire Quarry, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Australia.
