Type specimen: AMU-CURS 98, a skull. Its type locality is El Picache, which is in a Miocene fluvial-deltaic claystone/sandstone in the Urumaco Formation of Venezuela.

Ecology: aquatic herbivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at El Picache
