Sister taxon: Anatis gortanii
Type specimen: USNM 63445, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Florissant (USNM Collection), which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.

Distribution: found only at Florissant (USNM Collection)
