Holotype: UF 94526, nearly complete braincase posterior to interorbital constriction, lacking only zygomatic arches, with associated left periotic.

Etymology: From the greek Archaios, ancient, old, and daptes, eater of blood by sucking. The name referes to the fack that this id the oldest known species of vampire bat.
