Type specimens:

  • Desmodus stocki: LACM (CIT) 3129, a partial skull (cranium lacking post-incisor dentition on the left side, zygomatic arches and auditory bullae)
  • Desmodus magnus: Florida Geological Survey No. V-5935, a mandible (left dentary with C, P3, M1).

Ecology: volant omnivore

Distribution:

• Quaternary of United States (7: Arizona, California, Florida, New Mexico, West Virginia collections)
