Sister taxa: Chubutomys navaensis, Chubutomys simpsoni

Type specimen: MPEF-PV 1153, a mandible (left mandible fragment with p4-,3). Its type locality is Bryn Gwyn (Sarmiento Fm), which is in a Colhuehuapian terrestrial mixed carbonate-siliciclastic in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at Bryn Gwyn (Sarmiento Fm)
