Belongs to Chubutomys according to A. E. Wood and B. Patterson 1959
Sister taxa: Chubutomys leucoreios, Chubutomys navaensis
Type specimen: AMNH 29557, a mandible (fragment of left ramus with m2-3). Its type locality is Cabeza Blanca, which is in a Deseadan terrestrial shale/claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution:
• Deseadan of Argentina (2 collections)
Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
