Sister taxon: Aristonectes parvidens

Type specimen: SGO.PV.957, a partial skeleton (Skeleton including the skull, atlas-axis, twelve anterior cervicals, 23 middle-to-posterior cervicals, most of the trunk, both almost complete forelimbs, and mo). Its type locality is Cocholgüe village, sea coast, which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone/sandstone in the Quiriquina Formation of Chile.
