Sister taxa: Palaeophonus caledonicus, Palaeophonus nuncius

Type specimen: AMNH 2257, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Forge Hollow, Waterville, which is in a Pridoli lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Fiddlers Green Formation of New York.

Ecology:

Distribution: found only at Forge Hollow, Waterville
