Type specimen: PIN 3791/4809, an exoskeleton (male fly missing head & legs). Its type locality is Bakhar, outcrop 208/3 (PIN collection 3791), which is in a Bajocian/Bathonian lacustrine claystone in the Bakhar Formation of Mongolia.
