Sister taxa: Merycoides cursor, Merycoides longiceps

Type specimen: F:AM 44839, a skull (Skull with I1-I2 alv. and I3-M3). Its type locality is Guernsey, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Marsland Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Harrisonian of United States (10: Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming collections)

Total: 10 collections each including a single occurrence
