Sister taxon: Tohoraata waitakiensis
Type specimen: OU 22178, a partial skull (A partial skull including right periotic and tympanic bulla, partial mandible, thoracic vertebra and five ribs.). Its type locality is Waipati Creek, which is in a Duntroonian deep subtidal shelf limestone in the Otekaike Limestone Formation of New Zealand.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore-suspension feeder
Distribution: found only at Waipati Creek
