Sister taxa: Nelepsittacus daphneleeae, Nelepsittacus donmertoni

Type specimen: NMNZ S.52404, a limb element (Tarsometatarsus). Its type locality is HH2b Home Hills Station (H41/f87), which is in an Altonian lacustrine - large claystone/sandstone in the Bannockburn Formation of New Zealand.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution:
