Type specimen: AMNH 13264, a mandible (Lower jaw). Its type locality is Lower beds, west of Quarry A, which is in a Rupelian terrestrial sandstone/mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Hyaenodon brachycephalus in the database
