Sister taxa: Helaletes intermedius, Helaletes medius, Helaletes nanus
Type specimen: AMNH 19161, a maxilla (right maxilla). Its type locality is 23 miles South of Iren Dabasu (AMNH), which is in an Irdinmanhan terrestrial horizon in the Irdin Manha Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling browser
Distribution: found only at Obayla
