Sister taxa: Heptodon calciculus, Heptodon minimus, Heptodon posticus, Heptodon tienshanensis
Type specimen: IVPP V3048, a partial skull. Its type locality is East Valley of Chupitian, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Niushan Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling browser
Distribution: found only at East Valley of Chupitian
