Type specimens:

  • Propterodon morrisi: AMNH 19160, a mandible. Its type locality is 23 miles South of Iren Dabasu (AMNH), which is in an Irdinmanhan terrestrial horizon in the Irdin Manha Formation of China.
  • Propterodon irdinensis: AMNH 20128, a mandible (partial dentary and possibly associated partial maxilla).

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution:

• Eocene of China (5 collections)

Total: 5 collections each including a single occurrence
