Sister taxon: Eotaria crypta
Type specimen: LACM 122666, a mandible (nearly complete left mandible, including c1, p2–4, m1–2). Its type locality is Upper Oso Dam, which is in a Langhian marine sandstone in the "Topanga" Formation of California.
Ecology: amphibious piscivore
Distribution: found only at Upper Oso Dam
