Belongs to Melosaurus according to R. Schoch and A. R. Milner 2000
Sister taxa: Melosaurus kamaensis, Melosaurus platyrhinus, Melosaurus uralensis
Type specimen: PIN 4276/60, a partial skull. Its type locality is Golyusherma, PIN 4276, which is in an Ufimian/Kazanian terrestrial sandstone in the Baytugan Formation of the Russian Federation.
Ecology: amphibious carnivore
Distribution: found only at Golyusherma, PIN 4276
