Sister taxa: Cyphoproetus bellus, Cyphoproetus depressa, Cyphoproetus facetus, Cyphoproetus pugionis, Cyphoproetus semidepressus, Cyphoproetus svartoensis
Type specimen: RSM GY 1978.61.400, an exoskeleton
Ecology: fast-moving low-level epifaunal deposit feeder
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Cyphoproetus comitilus in the database
