Sister taxon: Stupendemys geographica

Type specimen: UFAC 1764, a limb element (right humerus). Its type locality is Patos, Rio Acre, which is in a Miocene alluvial fan conglomerate/sandstone in the Solimoes Formation of Brazil.

Ecology: aquatic herbivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at Patos, Rio Acre
