Belongs to Neophrontops according to H. Howard 1963
Sister taxa: Neophrontops americanus, Neophrontops dakotensis, Neophrontops slaughteri, Neophrontops vetustus
Type specimen: LACM 2866, a limb element. Its type locality is Arroyo Hueso, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in the Palm Springs Formation of California.
Ecology: volant carnivore
Distribution: found only at Arroyo Hueso
