Sister taxon: Yuanansuchus laticeps
Type specimen: IVPP V 22628, a partial skull (A nearly complete skull). Its type locality is Maopingchang, which is in an Anisian coastal horizon in the Xinlingzhen Formation of China.
Ecology: amphibious carnivore
Distribution: found only at Maopingchang
