Sister taxa: Anteophthalmosuchus esuchae, Anteophthalmosuchus hooleyi
Type specimen: IWCMS 2001.446, a partial skeleton (An almost complete skull missing the mandible, along with associated postcranial material). Its type locality is Northwest of Hanover Point, which is in a Barremian terrestrial claystone in the Wessex Formation of the United Kingdom.
