Sister taxa: Epipeltephilus kanti, Epipeltephilus recurvus

Type specimen: SGO-PV 21102, an osteoderm. Its type locality is 2.5 km south of Caragua, which is in a Tortonian terrestrial sandstone in the Huaylas Formation of Chile.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution: found only at 2.5 km south of Caragua
