Sister taxa: Meleagris altus, Meleagris celer, Meleagris crassipes, Meleagris gallopavo, Meleagris richmondi, Meleagris superba, Meleagris tridens
Type specimen: UCMP 45086, a set of postcrania (tarsometatarsus). Its type locality is Cita Canyon, which is in a Blancan channel sandstone in Texas.
Ecology: volant granivore
Distribution: found only at Cita Canyon
