Sister taxon: Songzia heidangkouensis
Type specimen: IVPP 18188, a skeleton (an articulated skeleton of an adult individual on one slab). Its type locality is Songzi, which is in an Eocene lacustrine horizon in the Yangxi Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at Songzi
