Type specimen: KUVP 94092a,b, a partial skeleton (skull and lower jaw, most of pectoral girdle and fins are revealed in lateral view with part and counterpart present). Its type locality is Red Hill, Horse Creek Valley, which is in a Givetian carbonate lime mudstone in the Denay Limestone Formation of Nevada.

Distribution: found only at Red Hill, Horse Creek Valley
