Reptilia - Testudines - Testudinidae
The species name is in honour of Dr. Lev Isaakovich Khosatzky (19131992), a well-known Soviet zoologist-herpetologist and palaeontologist from Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), who made important contribution to the study of turtles, including fossil turtles of Moldavia (Moldova) (see Danilov et al. 2013).
