Sister taxa: Paleospeothos, Protocyon orocualensis, Protocyon tarijensis, Protocyon troglodytes
Type specimen: MMP S 164, a skull. Its type locality is Cliffs of Santa Elena Creek, which is in an Ensenadan terrestrial horizon in the Miramar Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore-omnivore
Distribution:
• Quaternary of Argentina (2 collections)
Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
