Sister taxa: Paleospeothos, Protocyon scagliarum, Protocyon tarijensis, Protocyon troglodytes
Type specimen: OR 1332, a mandible (right and left hemimandibles). Its type locality is El Breal de Orocual 2, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene fluvial-deltaic /tar in the Mesa Formation of Venezuela.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore-omnivore
Distribution: found only at El Breal de Orocual 2
