A chroniosuchian characterized by: preorbital fenestra absent; well-developed transverse flange of the pterygoid that contacts the maxilla; internal crest on and above the dorsal side of the palate (vomer, ectopterygoid and pterygoid); shallow otic notch formed by the tabular horn and the posterior part of the squamosal; thin and high ventromedial ridge on parasphenoid; surangular dorsal surface forming a fossa for the insertion of external adductors; maxilla and quadratojugal separated by jugal; jugal with ventral (alary) process bordering subtemporal fenestra (last two features also present in some reptiliomorphs).
