Type specimens:

  • Brontops dispar: USNM 4941, a skull (nearly complete skull with lower jaws and entire dentition). Its type locality is Warbonnet Creek (Chadron), which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in Nebraska.
  • Brontops validus: USNM 4290, a skull (a skull in fine preservation).

Ecology: ground dwelling browser

Distribution:

• Eocene of United States (2: Nebraska, South Dakota collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
