Sister taxa: Nannodectes gazini, Nannodectes gidleyi, Nannodectes intermedius, Nannodectes simpsoni
Type specimen: RAM 9044, a mandible (right dentary with damaged i1, p2 alveolus, and p3–m3). Its type locality is RAM locality V200510, which is in a Tiffanian fluvial horizon in the Goler Formation of California.
