Sister taxon: Hadrokirus martini
Type specimen: CMM-V-10319, a mandible (incomplete body of right mandible missing vertical part of ramus, symphysis, and most of the body). Its type locality is Meherrin River, which is in a Pliocene marine horizon in the Yorktown Formation of North Carolina.
Ecology: amphibious piscivore-carnivore
Distribution: found only at Meherrin River
