Sister taxa: Utaetus buccatus, Utaetus deustus, Utaetus laevus, Utaetus lenis

Type specimen: IBIGEO-P 109, an osteoderm (11 fixed, two movables, and eight caudal complete osteoderms, in addition to numerous fragmentary osteoderms, all from the same individual). Its type locality is El Simbolar (upper Lumbrera), which is in an Eocene lacustrine mudstone/siltstone in the Lumbrera Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling insectivore

Distribution: found only at El Simbolar (upper Lumbrera)
