The species palomoi is in honor to Mr. Salvador Palomo, a retired technician of Museo Argentino Urquiza who helped to increase the knowledge of the vertebrate paleontology of the northern Neuqun province.

Belongs to Prochelidella according to I. J. Maniel et al. 2022

Sister taxa: Prochelidella argentinae, Prochelidella buitreraensis, Prochelidella cerrobarcinae, Prochelidella portezuelae

Type specimen: MAU-Pv-AG-452, a partial skeleton (A partially preserved skull; a left first costal bone; a left odd costal bone; a well-preserved plastron including both epiplastra, an entoplastron, a right hyo). Its type locality is Cañadón de Aguada Grande, which is in a Campanian/Campanian wet floodplain mudstone in the Anacleto Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: amphibious piscivore

Distribution: found only at Cañadón de Aguada Grande
