Type specimen: NHMUK P.7973, 7976, part and counterpart, a skeleton (Mostly complete fish, named in Gardiner 1967). Its type locality is Longton, which is in a Westphalian A/Westphalian C marine ironstone in the Pennine Middle Coal Measures Formation of the United Kingdom.
