Amended Diagnosis: Cochilius brevirostrus differs from C. volvens and C. fumensis by exhibiting P2 with a small central fossette after the lingual union of the protoloph and metaloph; M13 with parastyle usually labially projected beyond the paracone and metacone; M12 with the protoloph more developed than the metaloph; and M3 with disto-lingual notch. Cochilius brevirostrus differs from C. fumensis by the presence of continuous dentition (Fernández et al. 2021).
